This art blog is going to focus solely on the art of a friend of mine who creates incredible mixed media whimsical collages. She currently has a show of her work at the Ashby Free Public Library in the charming country town of Ashby, Massachusetts (located at 812 Main Street). While the gallery reception was just this past Thursday night (April 25), the show will run until mid-June. If you are local to the area, I strongly encourage you to go and check it out! Sue is featured as one of 5 artists in the show. Sue has been an artist for a long time, with amazing drawing and painting skills. Her love of collage, however, has been a newfound passion within the past year. Sue says, "I enjoy taking images--especially from ‘Old Master’ works--and refashioning them so that they have new stories to tell, stories which are most often inspired by the whimsical and absurd." I am so excited to be the proud owner of these two pieces that are in her show. This first one is entitled, "She had Strange Flights of Fancy that Day": The second one is entitled, "Will She or Won't She?": Here is Sue with some of her collages on the wall and a collaged book she created: And here is a photo of more of her wall collages: Here is Sue's "The Bird Lady of Camelot": Here is Sue's "A Little Bird Told Her...": And finally here is Sue's "Embrace Your Weird": If you would like to see more of Sue's incredible work, please visit and follow her Facebook page: Sue Ellen Siebert Art. Also, here is a copy of her business card if you are interested in contacting her: If you are interested in meeting Sue and hearing about her process of creating her book collages, she will be speaking at the Ashby Free Public Library on Thursday May 9, 6:30 - 8 PM, 812 Main Street, Ashby, Massachusetts. This is a free event and will include two other artists.

I adore Sue Ellen's work and you are a dear friend to have a blog with her work. She has a gift that is beyond most. I am lucky/grateful that she is my own friend on Facebook. Again, thank you!

AuthorI am 61 years old, a wife of 30 years, a mother of a wonderful and independent 23-year-old daughter, a clinical psychologist who treats adults in private practice, and last, but definitely not least, an artist. Whew! That was a mouth full. My passion is creating one-of-a-kind whimsical sculptural animals, dolls, and cake toppers (with a little multi-media collage thrown in for good measure). I hope you enjoy my creations as much as I enjoy making them! Archives
