Transforming 8 dog heads into whimsical dog sculptures

A couple of weeks ago I was so excited to open my box of 8 porcelain dog heads bought from the etsy.com shop, Burlap Luxe..  I had never encountered such a wonderful variety of breeds before, which meant more varied creations.  Here are the heads that I started with (all vintage "Made in Japan" salt or pepper shakers):

Next, I found tins for each of them that I thought brought out the color, personality and style of each dog . . .

And then gradually each individual, one-of-a-kind dog took shape into a character with an appropriate name or title by embellishing with various found objects such as knobs, buttons, faucet handles, pins, lead soldiers, bobbins, jewelry, brass flowers and butterflies, lace, spools, jewelry cabinet feet, pulley wheels, etc.  And here they are!

Hi Frances,
Thanks so much for reading and commenting on my blog! I use a few different methods of adhering items. Screws, nuts, E6000 industrial glue, and metal epoxy. Sometimes soldering. Hope that answers your questions! Shenna
